RPS on target for completion of CMSD detailed designs

RPS undertook concept and detailed civil and electrical design for 19 No. CMSD locations associated with the ‘Safer Isolations’ project on the Wessex route.

The purpose of this project is to provide faster, secure and safe isolations to the DC traction power system utilising existing switchgear with both local and remote control facilities. This creates a safer process and significantly reduces the need for operatives to access the rail infrastructure to apply short-circuiting straps to provide protection for the DC electrification system.

The entire scheme went smoothly without any design issues during approval/ construction stages and was widely regarded as a model multidisciplinary project by the Client.
