Great Western Electrification Project

RPS completes Independent Feeder designs for Royal Wootten Bassett to Thingley Junction.

Independent Feeders, which are separate from the OLE, are provided to supply Auto-Transformer Feeder Station (ATFS) locations, which are remote from the National Grid Bulk Supply Point (BSP) sites on the Great Western Electrification Project (GWEP).

Rail Power Solutions provided a sheath bonding strategy, narrating different options available in dealing with the cable conductive sheath earthing and bonding arrangement. The detailed designs included dividing the cable sheath into a number of sections along the cable run by using sectionalising joints. All designs were approved with minimal comments and the installation was free of any design issues.
