Fratton Depot Traction Power Upgrade

Rail Power Solutions (RPS) was responsible for delivering the multidisciplinary electrical design for the upgrade of Fratton Depot, encompassing High Voltage (HV), DC traction power and Electrical Track Equipment (ETE) requirements. TfL Cockfosters Depot

RPS have been appointed to provide specialist DC Traction power design services, working with Arup and VolkerFitzpatrick to develop the detailed electrical design for the new maintenance facility building. The project forms part of the wider Piccadilly Line Upgrade programme and supports the introduction and maintenance of the new 24TS fleet, providing the electrical infrastructure required for the future operation of the upgraded Cockfosters Depot.

Rail Power Solutions Ltd has provided Stagecoach South West Trains (SSWT) with design services for DC electrification enhancements across their Depots at Clapham, Wimbledon, Farnham and Strawberry Hill.

The works have included, development of feasibility studies and redefining scopes prior to carrying out outline and detailed designs, all being supported by carefully structured site surveys and load assessments.

RPS's quality and attention to detail shown in their work has been of great benefit in obtaining NR and other stakeholder acceptances and in ensuring confidence during implementation. Delivery has always been timely, and revisions and alterations speedily accommodated.

Contractor’s Engineering Manager Balfour Beatty Rail – Thameslink KO2

RPS are the preferred supplier to Balfour Beatty Rail for High Voltage design on the Thameslink Key Output 2 programme.

The programme has many key milestones dependant on High Voltage feeder diversions and modifications in order to complete the re-development of London Bridge Station and track remodelling works designed to facilitate the new high-frequency Thameslink services in 2018.

The work that RPS have undertaken for us to date has been of very high quality from the outset and the knowledge within the team at RPS is clear through the content and detail of the submissions.

I’ve also been impressed with RPS’s ability to work with us on defining the scope and obtaining the relevant information required to complete the submissions to the required standard.
