Projects Executed

We have executed a number of key Projects for various clients in challenging timescales. Some of our past and current projects are listed below:

DC Substations

 

  • Wessex Negative Short Circuiting Device: Outline designs for 19 sites which includes both Civil and Electrical Designs;

  • Holmethorpe DC Module: New DC module for Holmethorpe Substation which includes both Outline and Detailed Electrical Designs;

  • Docklands Light Railway: Approval In Principle and Approval Of Design for Bank and Beckton TP Hut renewal inclusive of the modules and all equipment within the modules;

  • Reading 10-Car Power Upgrade TP Hut-to-Substation Conversions Detailed Electrical Designs: Conversions at Buckhurst, Emmbrook, Sunningdale and Whitmoor. This work involved the installation of new HV modules, transformer-rectifiers, rectifier modules and auxiliary transformers. New DC modules were installed in most sites, except for Buckhurst Substation, which retained the use of the existing DC building (formerly the TP Hut building). This project also involved the replacement of ETE, renewal of substation earth farms and installation of new Track Isolation Switches (TIS) at Buckhurst Substation;

  • Reading 10-Car Power Upgrade Transformer Rectifier Renewal Electrical Designs: Renewal of the transformer-rectifier units at Ash Vale and Winnersh Substations. Work also involves relocation/ replacement of main DC circuit breakers, installation of new TIS's and renewal of substation earth farms;

  • Sussex Transformer Rectifier Renewals Electrical Design: Renewal of transformer-rectifier unit at Merstham, Salfords, Redhill and Preston Park Substations. Work also involves relocation/ replacement of the main DC circuit breaker;

  • Kent Transformer Rectifier and DC Circuit Breaker Renewals Electrical Design: Renewal of 3 No. transformer-rectifier units and 19 No. DC circuit breakers at Penge Substation. This involved complex staged multi-disciplinary designs to ensure the railway service is not affected by the renewal works. This project also included the renewal of 1 No. transformer-rectifier unit each at Teynham and Tonbridge Substations, respectively;

  • Horsham Stabling Sidings Electrical Designs: This project involved the extension of the DC busbar and provision of two new DC circuit breakers to feed the new Horsham Field Sidings. DC circuit breaker protection settings were provided.

 

Earthing Renewals

 

  • Wessex Earthing Phase 1 Earthing Design: This project consisted of providing earthing designs for Bagshot, Isington, Oatlands, Poole, St. Johns, Sturt Lane, Teddington and Tolworth Substations;

  • Wessex Earthing Phase 2 Earthing Design: This project consisted of providing earthing designs for Beaulieu Road, Bincombe, Bournemouth, Bramshott, Camberley, Charlton, Christchurch, Esher, Frimley, Langley, Mortlake, Pale Lane, Paulgrove, Pokesdown, Wallers Ash and Wrecclesham.

 

 HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Renewals

  • Thameslink Programme HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Works at London Bridge Station Platform, Structure No. 67 and Artillery Street: Electrical design were provided for the HV feeder and pilot cable slewing and insertion for HV feeders F503, F1555, F1556 and F1818;

  • Dover Sea Wall HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Works: Electrical designs for HV feeder and pilot cable insertion for HV feeder F1033;

  • Kent HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Renewals: Outline electrical designs for renewal of HV feeder and pilot cables for HV feeders F1038, F1073, F1074, F1077 and F1102;

  • Hastings Grid to Ore Substation HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Works: Electrical designs for renewal of HV feeder and pilot cables for HV feeder F1139. This project involves the design interface with the Hastings Grid including SCADA interface designs;

  • Reading 10-Car Power Upgrade HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Works: Electrical designs for renewal of HV feeder and pilot cables for HV feeders F477, F478, F2236 (to become F2082 and F2083), F2237 (to become F2084 and F2085), F2224, F2243 and F2252;

  • Redhill Station Platform 0 Construction – HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Diversion Works: Electrical designs for HV feeder and pilot cable insertion at Redhill Station for HV feeder F3003;

  • Arun River Bridge Deck Replacement – HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Diversion Works: Electrical designs for HV feeder and pilot cable insertion at Arun River Bridge for HV feeder F3316;

  • Thorndell Viaduct Reconstruction – HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Diversion Works: Electrical designs for HV feeder and pilot cable insertion at Thorndell Viaduct for HV feeder F3317;

  • Kent HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Renewal Works: Electrical designs for renewal of HV feeder and pilot cables for HV feeders F623, F630, F631, F1009, F1011, F1015, F1024, F1026, F1027, F1036, F1037, F1060, F1607, F1608, F1662, F1663, F1672, F1673, F1690 and F1691;

  • Wessex HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Renewal Works: Electrical designs for renewal of HV feeder and pilot cables for HV feeders F463, F464, F417 and F2270;

  • Tunbridge Wells Substation HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Renewal Works: Design of new HV feeder and associated pilot cables for HV feeders F1162, F1163 and F1165;

  • Clapham Junction Station Platform Extension Works: Electrical designs for HV feeder diversion at Clapham Junction Station;

  • Gravesend Station Remodelling – HV Feeder and Pilot Cable Diversion Works: Electrical designs for HV feeder and pilot cable diversion as part of the Gravesend Station Remodelling Works.

 

 Electric Track Equipment (ETE)

  • Wessex ETE Upgrade: Electrical designs for reinforcement of DC track feeder cables at Wimbledon, Point Pleasant, Teddington, Berrylands, Leatherhead and Weybridge Substations. Works also involve upgrading of ETE between Wimbledon and Durnsford Road Substations;

  • Kent DC Cable Renewals: Renewals/ reinforcement of DC track feeder cables at Nunhead, Swanley, Voltaire Road, Tonbridge, Dollands Moor, Continental Junction, Ashford and Queens Road Substations. Provision of Electrical Construction CRE for 15 No. renewal sites;

  • DC Cable Renewals: Renewals/ reinforcement of DC track feeder cables at Raynes Park and Otterbourne Substations;

  • Wessex DC Cables and TIS Installation: DC positive cables renewals and reinforcement for 14 No. substations, 7 No. TP Huts and installation of TIS's;

  • Sussex Power Supply Enhancement: ETE reinforcement works for the Sussex East Coast Way consisting of DC track feeder cable doubling, TIS installation, in-section DC positive cable doubling and installation of DC negative reinforcement cables at S&C;

  • Sussex Power Supply Enhancement: ETE reinforcement works for the Inner London area consisting of DC track feeder cable doubling, TIS installation, in-section DC positive cable doubling and installation of DC negative reinforcement cables at S&C;

  • Dover Sea Wall ETE Works: Conductor rail and negative bonding works;

  • Arun River Bridge Deck Replacement: DC stray current analysis and mitigation measures;

  • Wimbledon Depot: Engineering support for DC stray current measurements.

 

 Depots and Sidings

  • Wimbledon Depot: This project consists of the extension of the Maintenance Shed roads, reconfiguration of DC traction feeding arrangements, extension of overhead power and control busbars, interface with the existing Depot Protection System (DPS) and conductor rail modifications;

  • Strawberry Hill Depot: The ETE was reinforced to suit new berthing auxiliary traction power load;

  • Horsham Field Sidings: The ETE was designs for new Horsham Field Sidings;

  • Slade Green Depot 12-Car Works: ETE designs and load assessments were provided for 12-car operations;

  • Berthing Load Assessments: Load Assessments were provided for Wimbledon, Clapham Junction, Strawberry Hill, Farnham and Slade Green Depots.

 

 25kV OLE

  • Great Western Route Modernisation: Earthing and bonding designs were provided for the new Independent Feeders between:

    • Royal Wootten Bassett ATFS and Thingley Junction ATFS;

    • Canton ATFS and St. Brides ATFS;

    • Long Dyke ATFS and St. Brides ATFS.
