Rail Power Solutions was responsible for the multi-disciplinary designs consisting of electrical, civil, signalling and track for the Reading 10-car upgrade project.

 

This encompassed –

 

• Full conversion of Buckhurst, Embrook, Sunningdale and Whitmoor  TP Huts  to Substation (no DC switchgear renewal at Buckhurst;

• Rectifier Transformers renewal complete with new Main DC circuit breaker at Ashvale and Winnersh Substations; 

• Procurement supply specification for Substation equipment, comprising of HV and TRU modules, LVAC panel, battery charger, auxiliary transformer and SCADA RTU requirements;

• Substation earthing design to BSEN 50122; using CDEGs software modelling;

• Witness of Factory Acceptance Testing;

• External lighting design to conform to BSEN12464-2:2007, using DIALux software;

• HV and Rectifier protection calculations;

• Amtech calculations to BS7671;

• Specification of SCADA hardware and review of SCADA software.

In addition to this RPS were responsible for the concept and detailed electrical design for Network Rail 33kV HV & Pilot cable renewals associated with F477, F478, F2082, F2083, F2084, F2085, F2224, F2243 and F2252 for the Reading 10-car upgrade project.
