Project:
GWEP Independent Feeders

Rail Power Solutions provided a sheath bonding strategy for BCM to present to Network Rail the different options available in dealing with the cable conductive shield earthing and bonding arrangement.

Independent feeders, which are separate from the OLE, are provided to supply Auto-transformer Feeder Station (ATFS) locations, which are remote from the National Grid Bulk Supply Point (BSP) sites on the Great Western Electrification.

The length of each section is determined by the permissible shield voltage under both, normal and fault conditions. Shield sectionalising is normally accomplished at joint and termination locations where access to the shield is readily available.

This consists of dividing the cable shield into a number of sections along the cable run, using shield sectionalising joints.

Sheath voltages meet the requirements of - BS EN 50122.
